Small Cap Watch: S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries rises 0.62% as resources and healthcare stocks deliver updates

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX) closed yesterday at 3,549.50 points, up 0.62% or 21.80 points.

The index has gained 5.70%, or 191.50 points, over the past 5 trading days.

Against that firmer small-cap backdrop, ASX-listed companies continue to report exploration, resource and corporate developments spanning gold, rare earths, silver and regenerative medicine. You can read about the following and more throughout the day.

Critical Resources defines pathfinder anomalies at Lammerlaw

Critical Resources Ltd (ASX:CRR, FRA:9S70) has identified multiple arsenic-antimony-tungsten pathfinder anomalies from follow-up soil sampling at the Lammerlaw Gold Project in Central Otago, New Zealand.

Results have been received from 143 soil samples collected across the projected Stony Creek target, extending over about 5.4 kilometres from north to south.

The company said multiple As-Sb-W anomalies were concentrated within an approximately 3.2-kilometre section, including a peak result of 238 parts per million corrected arsenic with supporting antimony.

The results have defined several areas requiring follow-up work within Stony Creek, where historic antimony workings, known tungsten anomalism and a regional electromagnetic feature provide additional exploration vectors.

Arsenic, antimony and tungsten are commonly used as pathfinder elements in exploration for orogenic gold systems.

Critical Resources noted that its portable XRF program does not provide gold assays, with selected soil samples to be submitted for accredited laboratory analysis including gold testing.

Orthocell heads to Canaccord growth conference

Orthocell Ltd (ASX:OCC, OTC:ORHHF) will participate in the Canaccord Genuity (TSX:CF, LSE:CF) 46th Annual Growth Conference in Boston from August 11 to 13, 2026.

Chairman John Van Der Wielen and managing director Paul Anderson are scheduled to meet life sciences investors during the conference as the regenerative medicine company continues its investor engagement program.

Orthocell has also released an investor presentation in conjunction with its attendance.

Investors attending the conference can request one-on-one meetings with the company through their Canaccord Genuity sales representative.

St George Mining lifts Araxá resource to 111.2 million tonnes

St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ, FRA:S0G, OTC:SGQMF) has reported a substantial increase in the size and confidence of the mineral resource estimate for its 100%-owned Araxá Project in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The updated mineral resource now stands at 111.2 million tonnes grading 3.57% total rare earth oxides, 0.70% magnet rare earth oxides, 0.68% neodymium-praseodymium and 0.57% niobium pentoxide.

St George said the enlarged resource further demonstrated the scale of the Araxá rare earths and niobium deposit.

The updated mineral resource estimate was modelled by international mining consultancy SRK Consulting Pty Ltd (Australasia).

Advance Metals extends high-grade silver at Gavilanes

Advance Metals Ltd (ASX:AVM, FRA:4MF) has extended high-grade silver mineralisation a further 55 metres to the south at its 100%-owned Gavilanes Project in Mexico.

The fourth diamond hole in the company’s maiden drilling program, GV-26-004, returned 13.2 metres at 311 grams per tonne silver, including 6 metres at 612 g/t silver.

A second mineralised interval returned 6 metres at 199 g/t silver, including 2.4 metres at 367 g/t.

The latest result adds to evidence of continuity across a mineralised corridor extending for more than 750 metres of strike.

GV-26-004 was drilled 55 metres south of the previous 2 holes to test whether the known silver system continued beyond the limits of earlier drilling.

The result means all 4 holes completed and assayed by Advance Metals at Gavilanes so far have intersected high-grade silver mineralisation, providing further support for continuity of the system as drilling progresses.
