Barys Resources begins Kazakhstan fieldwork to define gold-copper drill targets

Barys Resources Ltd (ASX:BRY)has commenced a detailed exploration program across its newly acquired, 100%-owned tenements in Kazakhstan, targeting gold and potential copper mineralisation ahead of an initial drilling campaign.

The five-week program will cover seven priority alteration zones identified across the company’s 335-square-kilometre licence package in the North Balkhash region.

Fieldwork will include geological mapping, surface sampling, ground magnetic surveys, detailed soil geochemistry and gravity surveying over the most prospective areas. Results will be used to define geochemical and geophysical anomalies and establish targets for follow-up drilling.

Seven alteration zones targeted

Barys’ Kazakhstan portfolio comprises the Dalnee Gold Project and Karakul Gold Project, held under exploration licences 4238-EL and 4412-EL.

Previous work identified seven alteration zones and historical gold workings within the tenements.

The company believes the alteration is consistent with a high-level epithermal setting, with indications that current erosion levels may sit above a potentially mineralised system.

Barys has also completed a regional alteration study using ASTER and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery, supported by geological consultants specialising in epithermal and porphyry mineralisation.

The study was designed to identify alteration patterns associated with geological structures and help guide field teams towards potential feeder zones.

Program to support first drilling campaign

Samples collected during the field program will be submitted to an internationally accredited laboratory for geochemical analysis.

Barys managing director Paul Ingram said the program represented a conventional early-stage gold exploration approach, using alteration zoning to identify previously unrecognised mineral systems.

“Tracing geochemical and geophysical anomalies from this work will enable careful drill planning for the next phase of work,” Ingram said.

The results will form the technical basis for Barys’ first drilling program in Kazakhstan.
