Halfords revs up for FTSE 250 following strategic and financial progress

Halfords Group PLC (LSE:HFD) will join the FTSE 250 Index with effect from 4 August 2026, replacing Bluefield Solar Income Fund Ltd (LSE:BSIF, FRA:5B3), which is being acquired by Drax Group (LSE:DRX).

The motor and cycle retailer said its promotion follows a period of strategic and financial progress under its growth strategy, which has supported stronger financial returns and an improved customer experience.

Chief executive Henry Birch said: “Joining the FTSE 250 is an important milestone for Halfords and reflects the progress our colleagues are delivering across the business.”

Birch added that the company's recent results demonstrated that the "Optimise" phase of its strategy was gaining traction, delivering good sales growth, higher margins and an increased dividend.

He said the group's priority remains disciplined execution of its strategy, improving its proposition for customers and creating sustainable long-term value for shareholders.
