Air Astana CFO: Central Asia is the world's fastest-growing aviation market

Air Astana CFO: Central Asia is the world's fastest-growing aviation market

Air Astana (LSE:AIRA) CFO Gonçalo Pires joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion to discuss why the airline believes it is uniquely positioned to capitalise on the rapid growth of Central Asian aviation.

Pires explained how Kazakhstan's strategic location, within reach of around half the world's population, underpins Air Astana (LSE:AIRA)'s long-term growth strategy. He also highlighted the group's strong first-quarter performance, driven by pricing power, operational flexibility and its ability to capture passenger demand disrupted by events in the Middle East.

The discussion also covered the role of low-cost carrier FlyArystan in expanding air travel across the region, creating new demand and supporting the group's wider network strategy.

Looking ahead, Pires outlined the key priorities for investors, including maintaining cost discipline, increasing operational scale and resolving the Pratt & Whitney engine supply issues that continue to constrain fleet capacity.
