Grey Matters Health expands brain imaging services – ICYMI

Grey Matters Health (CSE:GREY, OTCQB:AGNPD, FRA:AGW0) earlier this week announced the arrival of its dedicated brain PET scanning system at the company's flagship clinic in Davie, Florida, representing a key operational milestone ahead of the facility's planned opening.

During an interview with Proactive, chief executive Christopher Moreau said the clinic will focus exclusively on brain imaging, differentiating the company from conventional imaging providers that rely on large hybrid PET/CT systems designed to scan the entire body.

Moreau said the dedicated brain scanner offers several commercial advantages, including lower equipment and installation costs compared with traditional PET/CT systems. He also highlighted patient benefits, noting that the absence of a CT component reduces radiation exposure by up to 25%, while the seated scanning position is intended to provide a more comfortable experience with less claustrophobia and dizziness.

The CEO said Grey Matters Health (CSE:GREY, OTCQB:AGNPD) intends to support referring physicians by using specialist neuroimaging radiologists rather than general radiologists, with reports expected to be delivered within 24 to 48 hours.

A major catalyst identified by Moreau is the expanding market for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis following the introduction of new treatments that require confirmation of amyloid in the brain before therapy can begin. He said patients currently have two diagnostic options—a spinal tap or a brain PET scan—and noted that PET imaging is covered by Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance for eligible patients aged 65 and older in the United States.

Moreau said millions of Americans displaying symptoms of Alzheimer's may progress through this diagnostic pathway, creating an opportunity for the company's dedicated imaging clinics. He described the company's approach as offering "a better mousetrap", referring to both the technology and the overall patient experience.

Beyond Alzheimer's disease, Moreau said the scanner will also be capable of supporting imaging for additional neurodegenerative disorders, including Parkinson's disease and Lewy body syndrome, as well as certain brain cancers, broadening the potential clinical applications of the technology.

Looking ahead, investors will likely focus on the opening of the Davie clinic, patient throughput, reimbursement-supported demand for brain PET imaging and the company's ability to establish its specialist imaging model. Moreau added that Grey Matters Health aims to deliver a "white glove" service, creating a calm and supportive environment for patients undergoing neurological imaging.
