Pilbara Gold starts 12,000-metre Roe Hills drill push to unlock WA gold corridor

Pilbara Gold Ltd (ASX:PGL) has kicked off a major reverse circulation drilling program at its Roe Hills Gold Project near Kalgoorlie, targeting a 1.8-kilometre bedrock gold corridor that has not seen exploration at the Terra and Caliburn prospects for eight years.

The company has begun up to 12,000 metres of RC drilling across the two prospects, with most of the program focused on Terra and 1,600 metres earmarked for Caliburn. Drilling is expected to take around 2.5 months and be completed this quarter.

Drilling targets Terra gold corridor

The campaign is designed to test the scale of gold mineralisation at Roe Hills, where historic reconnaissance drilling has already outlined encouraging intercepts.

The first hole, 26RHRC001, is being drilled immediately southeast of previous holes TD1 and RHRC002. TD1 returned 35 metres at 1.00 g/t gold from 116.5 metres, while RHRC002 delivered 23 metres at 1.4 g/t gold from 78 metres, including 11 metres at 2.59 g/t gold.

Terra is the main focus of the program, with the company aiming to better define the continuity and scale of the 1.8-kilometre mineralised corridor.

Caliburn adds second bedrock target

Pilbara Gold will also test Caliburn, around four kilometres southeast of Terra along strike.

Historic drilling at Caliburn has returned 22 metres at 1.55 g/t gold from 144 metres, including 10 metres at 2.77 g/t gold, as well as 54 metres at 0.74 g/t gold from 10 metres, including 16 metres at 1.02 g/t gold.

Managing director Dr Peter Turner said the company was targeting significant gold resources at Roe Hills and that historic drilling had provided the foundation for the current program.

“It is an exciting project and in the right area and this drilling will quickly determine the scale of the mineralised corridor.

“We anticipate completing the 12,000m drilling across Roe Hills this quarter.”

Strategic Goldfields location

Roe Hills sits in a well-established gold mining district, around 100 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie and 50 kilometres east of Vault Minerals Ltd’s Mt Monger gold operations, including the Randalls Processing Plant.

The project is also about 50 kilometres south of Ramelius Resources’ 1.8-million-ounce Roe Gold Project and 15 kilometres south of Forrestania Resources’ Karonie Gold Project. It is around 60 kilometres east of Black Cat Syndicate’s Kal East mining operations, which process ore through the 1.2-million-tonne-per-annum Lakewood Processing Facility.

A regional map on page 6 shows Roe Hills positioned among several gold centres, haul roads and processing plants, reinforcing the project’s location in an active mining belt.

Broader Pilbara Gold portfolio

Pilbara Gold, formerly Kairos Minerals, also owns 100% of the flagship Mt York Gold Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Mt York hosts a 2.1-million-ounce gold resource, with the company planning 50,000 metres of extensional and infill drilling in 2026 to support resource growth and feed into a prefeasibility study.

At Roe Hills, Pilbara Gold is pursuing a maiden gold resource in 2026 at its 100%-owned project, where Terra and Caliburn have more than 1,500 metres of historic gold intercepts and geological similarities to deposits at the St Ives gold camp.

What’s ahead

Pilbara Gold will complete the 12,000-metre drilling program at Terra and Caliburn before analysing and interpreting results, wireframing geological and mineralised domains and assessing the prospects for a potential maiden mineral resource estimate.
