Dalaroo Metals sharpens Blue Lagoon rare earth model In Greenland

Dalaroo Metals Ltd (ASX:DAL)'s ongoing exploration at its 100%-owned Blue Lagoon Rare Earth Project in southern Greenland is rapidly improving its understanding of a potentially large rare earth and critical minerals system.

The company’s 2026 field program has identified multiple granite units, aplite sills, beryl-bearing pegmatites and interpreted eudialyte-bearing alkaline granites, providing stronger evidence for the hard-rock source of rare earth-bearing sediments previously discovered at the project.

Southern Greenland is rapidly emerging as one of the world's most important new jurisdictions for rare earth elements and critical minerals, with multiple companies now actively exploring and advancing globally significant projects within the Gardar Alkaline Province.

Exploration gathers pace

The program is already well advanced, with about 65% of geological mapping completed, 40% of surface sampling finished, and 50% of lagoon sediment sampling completed using a Van Veen grab sampler.

A Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey has also started, giving Dalaroo the first three-dimensional assessment of lagoon sediment architecture at Blue Lagoon.

The campaign builds on the company’s 2025 field season, which returned anomalous rare earth mineralisation from all 113 samples, including peak values of 0.81% total rare earth oxides (TREO), 4.42% zirconium oxide and 99 ppm hafnium.

Mapping strengthens source-to-sink model

Dalaroo's geological mapping had identified four distinct:

  • granite phases;
  • numerous aplite sills;
  • beryl-bearing pegmatites; and
  • interpreted eudialyte-bearing alkaline granites

These observations are significant because they support the company’s source-to-sink exploration model, in which rare earth-bearing minerals are weathered from fertile alkaline intrusive rocks, transported through drainage systems and naturally concentrated in the Blue Lagoon basin.

The company's recognition of multiple intrusive phases was improving its understanding of the potential source rocks responsible for rare earth and critical mineral enrichment in lagoon sediments.

Several of the highest-grade heavy mineral samples collected during the 2025 campaign were found immediately downslope from mapped pink alkaline granites, further supporting the company’s interpretation that these rocks could be an important source of the mineralised sediment system.

Heavy mineral sands point to scale

Surface sampling has also identified widespread naturally concentrated heavy mineral sands across eastern drainage systems and beach foreshores.

Dalaroo's scale of the eastern valleys draining into the Blue Lagoon basin highlighted a significant catchment area capable of transporting and concentrating weathered material from multiple granitic source rocks.

The company believes the consistency of these heavy mineral accumulations across multiple drainage systems suggests the concentration processes are operating on a project-wide scale, rather than being limited to isolated occurrences.

Field program remains on schedule

Despite weather-related logistical challenges, Dalaroo said its exploration objectives remained intact.

The company has shifted to a helicopter-supported fly-camp model and replaced planned mechanised auger drilling with hand auger drilling, allowing geological mapping, hand auger drilling, surface sampling, lagoon sediment sampling and GPR surveying to continue on schedule.

CEO John Morgan said the program was improving Dalaroo’s understanding of the Blue Lagoon mineral system and strengthening confidence in the company’s geological model.

“Every component of this year’s field program is bringing us closer to understanding the source, scale and continuity of the Blue Lagoon mineral system, while providing the technical foundation for the next phase of exploration and future drilling,” Morgan said.

What’s ahead

Dalaroo’s upcoming catalysts include completion of the GPR survey, lagoon sediment sampling and geological mapping, followed by laboratory assay results from hard-rock and heavy mineral concentrate sampling.

The company will also seek confirmation of rare earth-bearing mineral assemblages, begin preliminary metallurgical investigations and generate targets for follow-up drilling.
