Canyon Resources Ltd (ASX:CAY) has appointed Rory McGoldrick as non-executive director as the company builds board and operational capability ahead of its targeted first bauxite shipment in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The appointment is effective from July 2, 2026, and comes as Canyon continues to advance toward the commencement of mining and its ambition to become a major ASX-listed bauxite producer.
McGoldrick brings 20 years of experience across the energy and resources sector, including executive leadership, corporate advisory and legal roles.
He is currently chief executive officer of Triangle Energy (Global) Ltd, where he leads the company’s oil and gas activities across the Perth Basin and the United Kingdom. He previously served as Triangle’s chief operating officer, assisting with day-to-day operations and leading the spin-out of the company’s Philippines assets into Tetragon Energy Ltd.
McGoldrick also serves as part-time CEO of Winchester Energy Ltd (ASX:WEL), where Canyon said he had helped drive the company to positive cashflow through operational reforms across producing fields in Texas.
Corporate law and capital markets background
Before moving into executive roles in the energy sector, McGoldrick was managing director of Quantum Capital Partners, a Perth-based corporate advisory firm he co-founded in 2003, focused on the energy and resources sector.
Earlier in his career, he worked as a corporate lawyer, advising on public company mergers and takeovers, acquisitions, capital raisings and ASX Listing Rules compliance.
He is also a non-executive director of Australasian Metals Ltd (ASX) and holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the College of Law Australia.
Board capability strengthened
Canyon non-executive chairman Mark Hohnen said McGoldrick would add corporate law, capital markets, operational and leadership expertise to the board.
“With his extensive experience across corporate law and capital market advisory, Rory strengthens the Board with capabilities and knowledge across ASX compliance, operational and leadership experience as well as corporate transactions and financing,” Hohnen said.
“The Canyon Board is looking forward to working with Rory as we continue to rapidly move towards commencement of mining and our first shipment target of Q4, 2026. With operational workstreams advancing the Company into the next major ASX-listed world-class bauxite producer.”
