Eco Buildings pushes into new markets as commercial phase takes shape

Eco Buildings Group PLC (AIM:ECOB, FRA:9ZL0), the AIM-listed modular housing company, used its full-year results to set out a year of expansion that took its glass fibre reinforced gypsum building system from demonstration projects into early commercial deployment.

The company secured its first major Albanian residential contract during the period, an 18-unit luxury apartment block in Tirana, and has since begun groundworks and foundations on the project.

Its Albanian factory produced more than 82,000 square metres of wall panels while running a single shift.

Overseas, Eco signed a memorandum of understanding with G2 Invest for a joint venture in Senegal, where the Dakar-based partner committed €1.75 million towards a new production line.

The company has since widened its Senegal plans to include a modular hospital and appointed an engineering, procurement and construction contractor to build the facility.

It also entered Southeast Asia through an Indonesian partnership targeting the country's large social housing shortfall.

Regulatory progress underpinned the commercial push, with the company gaining CE marking for European sales and ISO 14001 environmental certification for its Albanian subsidiary.

Since the year-end, Eco has raised £2.35 million to fund a second Albanian production line, which it has now ordered.

The financial picture improved modestly, with revenue rising to about €2.4 million from €1.4 million a year earlier.

The operating loss narrowed to €2.6 million from €3.4 million, while the loss after tax fell to €3.1 million from €3.9 million.

The company is still awaiting a deposit of up to £6.375 million tied to its Chilean social housing contract, now expected in 2026 after government delays.
