Nexus Minerals confirms high-grade gold extensions at Clement prospect

The company's final reverse-circulation (RC) assays returned broad, high-grade gold intercepts and confirmed that the system remains open at depth.

Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM) (Nexus Minerals Ltd (ASX:NXM)) has strengthened the case for a maiden resource at the Clement Prospect within its Wallbrook Gold Project in Western Australia, after final reverse circulation (RC) assays returned broad, high-grade gold intercepts and confirmed the system remains open at depth.

The latest results cover the final 23 drill holes and four drill hole extensions from Clement, representing 4,239 metres of drilling.

Standout intersections include:

  • 4 metres at 6.36 g/t gold within 13 metres at 2.62 g/t gold from 204 metres;
  • 5 metres at 2.06 g/t gold plus 1 metre at 2.02 g/t gold within 18 metres at 1.12 g/t gold from 204 metres.

Clement system open at depth

Nexus' depth extensions to previously reported holes NMWBRC26-827 and NMWBRC26-830 returned further high-grade mineralisation below their original planned depths, supporting the interpretation that Clement remains open down-dip.

The company has now completed assay reporting for the current Clement program, with 33 RC holes for 6,121 metres drilled and reported.

Other notable results from the latest tranche included:

  • 4 metres at 2.74 g/t gold within 11 metres at 1.12 g/t from 86 metres;
  • 8 metres at 1.93 g/t from 111 metres including 3 metres at 3.51 g/t; and
  • 2 metres at 6.24 g/t from 133 metres.

Maiden resource potential

The Clement Prospect sits immediately adjacent to the Crusader–Templar Deposit and within the same gold corridor that hosts Wallbrook’s current combined mineral resource estimate of 5.7 million tonnes at 1.7 g/t gold for 304,000 ounces.

Nexus' drilling had confirmed broad gold mineralisation in a series of stacked sub-vertical lodes, supporting Clement’s potential to host a shallow maiden mineral resource and grow the broader Wallbrook resource inventory.

Managing director Andy Tudor said the final tranche built on strong progress at Clement and that depth extensions confirmed the system continued at strong grades and widths. He added that mineralisation close to Crusader–Templar presented further targeting opportunities and potential future pit optimisation synergies.

“The Clement prospect is well positioned for a maiden mineral resource that will contribute to the updated multi-prospect Wallbrook estimate, anticipated for completion in the September quarter,” Tudor added.

Wallbrook drilling advances

The Clement results form the third reported tranche from a broader 22,000-metre RC drilling program at Wallbrook, with 8,345 metres reported so far.

The program is targeting Clement, Payns and Branches, as well as extensions to the Crusader–Templar Deposit. Nexus said RC drilling at Payns and Branches had been completed, with the rig now drilling Crusader–Templar extensional holes.

The company's Clement and Crusader–Templar appeared to share a common geological framework, including host rocks, structures, alteration and mineralisation style, supporting the interpretation of a continuous mineralised system within a single gold corridor.

What’s ahead

Nexus expects further assay results from Payns, Branches and Crusader–Templar in the coming weeks, while the updated multi-prospect Wallbrook Mineral Resource Estimate is targeted for completion by the end of the September quarter.

Around 18,000 metres of the planned 22,000-metre RC program has been completed, with drilling on track to finish in early July and remaining assays expected to continue reporting into August.
