The Derbyshire-based defence technology company outlined its transition from blast survivability and protection systems into the rapidly expanding counter-drone sector. Hayes explained how the company is developing a range of patented technologies aimed at defeating or capturing drones across multiple operational scenarios, including military applications, prisons, airports, ports and other critical national infrastructure.
The company said its strategy focuses on delivering low-cost, effective and scalable solutions rather than complex, expensive systems. Young discussed the changing nature of modern warfare and the growing challenge posed by low-cost drones. Referring to recent developments in Ukraine, he noted the importance of cost-effective countermeasures and operational practicality. He also outlined progress towards obtaining Section 5 approval under the UK Firearms Act, which would enable further testing and development of specialised counter-drone ammunition.
Advanced Blast & Ballistic Systems also discussed its intellectual property portfolio, current shareholder base, ongoing development programmes and plans to accelerate product testing and deployment.
