ATOME says it is continuing talks in Paraguay as it seeks to keep Villeta on-track

ATOME PLC (AIM:ATOM) told investors it is continuing talks with Paraguay’s authorities and state power group ANDE as it seeks to keep its fully funded Villeta green fertiliser project on track after a regulatory setback earlier this month.

The AIM-listed company said discussions centre on the power purchase agreement needed for Villeta, following Paraguay’s revocation of the January 2026 Presidential Decree.

Chair Peter Levine said ATOME was seeking “a mutually acceptable amicable resolution” with ANDE, adding that the nationally strategic project was ready to start immediate building works.

ATOME said its lenders — IDB Invest, IFC, the European Investment Bank and FMO — were actively participating in discussions. The company noted that IDB Invest and EIB also provide support and financial assistance to ANDE.

The company said Villeta would be the largest single industrial investment in Paraguay’s history, creating 4,000 direct and indirect jobs during construction and more than 1,000 during production. It also estimated the project would provide ANDE with more than US$1 billion of revenue over its life.

ATOME also noted that it currently has a 145MW power purchase agreement, initially entered into in 2022, under which power is reserved exclusively for the company.
