Coppermoly launches Cloncurry exploration work targeting copper-gold-molybdenum potential

Coppermoly (ASX:COY) has kicked off new geophysical and geochemical exploration programs across key targets at its Fox Creek and Windy Hill projects in the highly prospective Cloncurry district of northwest Queensland.

The work is focused on advancing several copper-gold-molybdenum targets south of Cloncurry, with ground magnetic surveying underway across 4 target areas and geochemical sampling planned at a new copper target within the Windy Hill Project.

The company expects the current geophysical survey program to be completed by the end of July, with results anticipated by the end of August 2026.

Exploration work underway at Fox Creek and Windy Hill

A ground magnetic survey has started at the Fox Creek Project, within EPM 27835, targeting the Miss Lorna Hit and Williams prospects.

At Williams, Coppermoly (ASX:COY) is following up regional copper stream sediment and Geotem anomalies identified on both sides of the tongue-shaped Soxby Granite. The company interprets these anomalies as potentially related to Ernest Henry-style copper-gold mineralisation.

The Miss Lorna Hit copper prospect contains historical mining sites and is associated with aeromagnetic anomalies. No electromagnetic data is available for the area, making the current ground magnetic survey an important step in improving target definition.

Once work at Fox Creek is complete, the survey team will move to the Windy Hill Project, within EPM 28751, where it will test the Windy Hill copper target and a new unnamed target.

Geochemical sampling will also be undertaken within the ground magnetic survey area at the unnamed target, which was selected for follow-up after historical rock-chip sampling returned lead-zinc anomalies.

Windy Hill target shows copper-gold potential

The Windy Hill copper prospect was first identified by CRA Exploration and is described as a mineralised breccia hosted within Argylla Formation rhyodacite volcanics.

Gossanous zones associated with quartz veining occur near the Windy Hill breccia, and the prospect has been considered highly prospective for copper-gold and gold mineralisation associated with magnetite concentrations.

Coppermoly said this style of mineralisation was similar to that observed at the Ernest Henry and Osborne deposits, while contacts with the 1,500-million-year-old Wimberu Granite were also considered prospective.

A previous airborne magnetic survey over part of the tenement indicates that the Windy Hill magnetic high complex extends more than 2 kilometres north-northeast, while earlier work covered only a small portion of the broader complex.

Further surveys planned

Coppermoly also plans follow-up geophysical surveys at the Dynamite prospect in EPM 28981 and the Rennies Target 1 area within EPM 27835.

At Dynamite, ground magnetic work will test regional aeromagnetic anomalies aligned with major structures, while at Rennies the survey will aim to identify the source of previously reported Geotem anomalies.

About Coppermoly

Coppermoly is focused on copper, gold and molybdenum opportunities in Queensland’s Mount Isa region.

The company’s Queensland portfolio is prospective for iron oxide copper-gold and shear-hosted copper-gold deposits. Coppermoly has also expanded its Australian footprint through the acquisition of 4 Western Australian tenements prospective for tungsten, lithium-rubidium and titanium mineralisation, complementing its 5 Queensland tenements and lifting its total project footprint to 1,805 square kilometres.
