Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA, XETRA:NVD) on Tuesday announced BioNeMo Agent Toolkit, a suite of software tools designed to help AI agents perform scientific tasks across biology, chemistry, genomics and drug discovery.
The toolkit combines Nvidia's life sciences libraries, models and computing technologies to enable AI systems to gather and analyze scientific information, run computational experiments and recommend follow-up actions. It is intended for use with general-purpose assistants, specialized scientific agents and in-house biopharma platforms.
According to Nvidia, more than 50 organizations are already using the toolkit, including pharmaceutical companies Lilly and Natera, software providers Dassault Systèmes and Schrödinger, and data platform companies Databricks and Snowflake. Anthropic and OpenAI are integrating the toolkit into their scientific workflows, the company said.
BioNeMo Agent Toolkit includes Nvidia BioNeMo, Nemotron models, NeMo technologies, Parabricks genomic analysis software and NIM microservices. Nvidia said the tools allow AI agents to access scientific models, interpret results and execute complex workflows more efficiently.
Potential applications include virtual drug screening, genomic analysis, protein design, biomedical research and medical imaging analysis. Nvidia said the toolkit can help researchers reduce the time required for computational screening and iterative design processes.
Jensen Huang, Nvidia's founder and chief executive officer, said the toolkit enables researchers to build AI agents capable of understanding scientific knowledge, using scientific tools and carrying out scientific workflows.
“This is a new way to do science — one that can dramatically accelerate discovery across biology, chemistry, genomics and medicine,” Huang said.
The company also highlighted collaborations with research groups, including the University of Washington's Institute for Protein Design, which it said achieved performance improvements for protein design models using BioNeMo-related technologies.
BioNeMo Agent Toolkit and its associated tools are available through Nvidia's developer resources and GitHub.
Shares of Nvidia traded down almost 3% following the announcement, as a selloff in technology stocks entered its second day.
