Conneqt Health Ltd (ASX:CQT) has taken a key step toward expanding its cardiovascular health technology platform, lodging an FDA Pre-Submission package for SphygmoCor Cloud, its next-generation Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) platform.
The company is looking to begin the pathway to 510(k) clearance in the US, with written feedback from the US Food and Drug Administration expected in August 2026.
If cleared, SphygmoCor Cloud would become CONNEQT’s 6th FDA-cleared product and would mark a shift in the company’s arterial health analytics from dedicated hardware to a cloud-based platform.
FDA pathway begins
The Pre-Submission has been lodged under the FDA’s Q-Submission program, which allows companies to receive written feedback on key regulatory, clinical, technical and quality matters before filing a full 510(k) application.
CONNEQT expects to hold a Pre-Submission meeting in late August or early September 2026, before targeting a 510(k) submission in Q2 FY27.
Potential FDA clearance is targeted for Q3–Q4 FY27, subject to FDA review timelines, feedback and any requests for additional information.
SphygmoCor moves from hardware to cloud
SphygmoCor Cloud is designed to migrate CONNEQT’s validated cardiovascular analytics engine into a cloud-based SaMD architecture.
The move could allow compatible devices, applications and digital health platforms to access its arterial health analytics without requiring dedicated CONNEQT hardware in a professional setting.
SphygmoCor technology has been commercially deployed since receiving its 1st FDA clearance in 2002 and is used in research institutions, hospitals and clinical programs across more than 40 countries.
The technology is supported by more than 50 years of foundational research, 24 years of FDA-cleared clinical deployment and thousands of peer-reviewed publications.
New commercial pathways
The cloud platform could open new commercial pathways, including Biomarker-as-a-Service, third-party device integration, enterprise licensing and direct-to-consumer digital health applications.
Through API-based integration, SphygmoCor Cloud is being designed to support compatible device companies, medical-grade peripherals and consumer health technology platforms.
The company said the platform may also be used by health systems, insurers and employer health programs for cardiovascular risk screening and monitoring without deploying CONNEQT hardware.
The transition also supports a potential shift from one-time device sales toward software licensing and subscription revenue.
“This is a significant step forward for CONNEQT, not just the filing, but the opportunity it opens up,” CONNEQT Health CEO Craig Cooper said.
“Though our devices remain central to what we do, SphygmoCor Cloud adds a second engine to the business, one that can scale independently of hardware and reach a market opportunity substantially larger than our devices alone can access.”
