Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, XETRA:APC)’s WWDC 2026 announcements represent a "material positive reset" of the company's artificial intelligence strategy, according to Bank of America analysts.
The firm wrote that Apple has repositioned Siri as a context-aware, multimodal assistant capable of understanding personal context, onscreen content, broader knowledge, and executing actions across apps and devices. The enhanced Siri is designed to work across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro and Apple's services ecosystem.
Bank of America believes that the updated approach could help Apple integrate AI more deeply into its products by leveraging access to device context, app capabilities, screen state and private user data.
A key change highlighted by the firm is Apple's adoption of a hybrid AI architecture that combines on-device processing, its Private Cloud Compute (PCC) infrastructure and Google Cloud services powered by Nvidia graphics processors for more demanding workloads.
Apple's third-generation Apple Foundation Models (AFM 3) include two on-device models and three cloud-based models, creating a framework that routes tasks based on complexity.
Bank of America noted that AFM 3 Core Advanced, a 20-billion-parameter sparse model that activates only a fraction of its parameters for each request, could help improve local AI capabilities while managing computational demands.
The firm noted that Apple's future margins may depend on how frequently AI requests require cloud-based processing. In its illustrative 2030 scenario, Bank of America estimates that while only 5% of requests may be directed to the most advanced cloud model, those requests could account for roughly one-third of workloads and two-thirds of weighted cloud computing costs because of the higher demands associated with image generation and complex reasoning tasks.
Bank of America maintained its ‘Buy’ rating on Apple and kept its price target at $380, citing the company's capital returns, potential leadership in edge AI and opportunities from new products and markets. Shares of Apple traded hands at $299 on Monday afternoon, up about 10% so far this year.
