Cosmo Metals receives first assays from Kanowna gold drilling

Cosmo Metals Ltd (ASX:CMO) has received initial assay results from the reverse circulation (RC) phase of a high-impact drilling program at the Kanowna Gold Project in Western Australia’s Goldfields.

The project is 13 kilometres from Kalgoorlie and adjacent to Northern Star Resources Ltd (ASX:NST)’s (ASX: NST) Kanowna Belle Gold Mine tenure, which hosts more than 7 million ounces of gold.

Initial RC results

The RC phase comprised 6 holes for 875 metres across four diamond hole pre-collars and two completed RC holes.

Gold assay results have been received for the fresh bedrock sections of 5 holes drilled along the Kanowna Shear Zone, including 2 completed RC holes and 3 pre-collars ahead of diamond drilling.

The peak result was 2 metres at 3.72 g/t gold from 30 metres at Don Alvaro within a broader zone of 12 metres at 0.79 g/t from 30 metres in hole DARC001.

Cosmo said the initial results related only to fresh bedrock portions of the holes, with assays still pending for the upper and weathered sections, as well as diamond tails.

Diamond drilling extended

At Adder, the diamond tail on hole ADRC003 was extended to 270 metres, well beyond its planned depth, after the company observed encouraging alteration, veining and sulphide mineralisation.

Detailed geological logging of the diamond core has now been completed, with core processing underway ahead of sample submission for assay.

The program tested targets along the Kanowna Shear Zone, a key regional structure within the broader Kanowna Gold Project area.

Further assays pending

Cosmo is awaiting further RC assays from the upper and weathered portions of the Don Alvaro and Adder holes.

Assays are also pending from Laguna Verde, where the company completed a 100-metre RC pre-collar for a diamond hole co-funded under the Western Australian Government’s Exploration Incentive Scheme.

Once the full assay and geological datasets have been received, Cosmo plans to design follow-up drilling along the Kanowna Shear and Fitzroy Fault targets.

About Cosmo Metals

Cosmo Metals is a gold and base metals exploration company with projects in Western Australia and New South Wales.

The company is advancing the underexplored Bingara and Nundle gold-antimony and copper projects in the New England Orogen of northern NSW, which cover about 743 square kilometres.

The projects host several historically discovered and mined high-grade gold, antimony and copper deposits, but exploration has been limited since the 1970s and no drilling has been completed in about 30 years.

Cosmo is also progressing exploration at the Kanowna Gold Project, around 13 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie and adjacent to the 7-million-ounce Kanowna Belle gold mine.

In addition, the company owns the advanced Yamarna Project in the Eastern Goldfields, which hosts significant intrusive-related base metal mineralisation, including the Mt Venn copper-nickel-cobalt deposit.

Cosmo is supported by an experienced technical team and is advancing exploration across multiple project areas.
