Nine Mile Metals Ltd. (CSE:NINE, OTCQB:VMSXF, FRA:KQ9) said on Wednesday that drilling at its Wedge Mine property has returned two zones of copper mineralization, including a new zone discovered at depth.
The completed hole reached a final depth of 290.5 metres and was drilled to follow up on mineralization found in 2024, with targeting guided by 3D modelling from Apex Geoscience.
Copper sulphide minerals were present across a 234.15-metre interval beginning at 39.2 metres depth, strengthening around the 97-metre mark. An upper mineralized zone was identified between 105.8 and 114.3 metres.
A second, deeper zone was found between 204.6 and 222.3 metres, spanning 17.7 metres, and is heavily sulphide-dominant at around 70%, with copper, lead and zinc minerals all visible in the core.
CEO Patrick Cruickshank said the program continues to demonstrate a very large copper-dominant system at the Wedge Mine. “This drill season will be a defining one for our company, and it has started off very successfully on the heels of last fall's program,” Cruickshank told investors.
Gary Lohman, Nine Mile’s vice president exploration, said drilling continues to intersect massive to semi-massive copper-bearing mineralization. “(T)he new horizon at depth a welcome surprise confirming the robust nature of the Wedge.”
Lohman added that the presence of galena and sphalerite means the company also anticipates meaningful lead and zinc assays alongside gold and silver results.
Nine Mile Metals is a Canadian mineral exploration company focused on copper, lead, zinc, silver and gold discovery in New Brunswick's Bathurst Mining Camp, operating four VMS projects in the region.
The company's Canadian and US-listed shares both added about 40% on the update in early trade on Wednesday.
