Medicus Pharma files IND for genomics-enabled endometriosis trial in UAE

Medicus Pharma (NASDAQ:MDCX) has submitted an Investigational New Drug application to Abu Dhabi's Department of Health for PRECISION-E2, a Phase 2a clinical trial evaluating its Teverelix drug candidate in women with symptomatic endometriosis in the United Arab Emirates.

The study will enroll approximately 84 women across multiple sites in the UAE and test three different Teverelix dosing regimens, delivered by injection, to determine which dose and method best controls estrogen levels while minimizing side effects.

A key feature of the trial is its integration with the Emirati Genome Program, one of the world's largest national genomics initiatives. Researchers will examine how differences in participants' DNA may influence how their bodies respond to the drug, including changes in hormone levels, symptom relief, and overall treatment outcomes.

The company said the resulting dataset would draw on genetic information alongside traditional clinical measures and patient-reported outcomes, potentially making it one of the most comprehensive collections of precision medicine data ever assembled in endometriosis research.

CEO Raza Bokhari told shareholders the trial is evaluating "a long-acting GnRH antagonist in endometriosis through a precision medicine framework," with the goal of moving treatment away from a one-size-fits-all model toward a more personalized approach.

Endometriosis is a chronic estrogen-dependent inflammatory disease affecting roughly one in ten women of reproductive age worldwide, and is associated with pelvic pain, dysmenorrhea, infertility, and impaired quality of life.

Medicus said positive results from PRECISION-E2 could support future Phase 2b development in endometriosis and potentially inform other women's health indications including uterine fibroids.
