Novo Resources Corp executive co-chairman and acting chief executive officer Mike Spreadborough talked with Proactive about the company's maiden mineral resource estimate at the Belltopper Gold Project in Victoria, outlining the significance of the newly defined Leven Star Reef resource and the next steps for exploration.
Novo has delivered its first JORC-compliant mineral resource estimate at Belltopper, defining an inferred resource of 760,000 tonnes grading 3.6 g/t gold for 87,000 ounces of contained gold at the Leven Star Reef.
Spreadborough explained that the resource represents only one component of a much larger exploration opportunity at Belltopper, where the company has identified at least eight high-grade reefs. He highlighted that Belltopper sits within a broader exploration target of between 660,000 ounces and 880,000 ounces of gold and noted that the maiden resource provides an important foundation for future growth.
General manager exploration Rohan Williams discussed the company's plans for a 2,500-metre drilling program in the second half of the year. The drilling campaign is designed to test additional reefs, validate the broader exploration target and potentially expand the resource base at Belltopper.
Spreadborough also pointed to improving conditions for gold exploration in Victoria, stating that the state is now "back in business for gold exploration and gold development."
With drilling expected to resume later this year, Novo is focused on growing the resource inventory and advancing its understanding of the Belltopper Gold Project.
