Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL, XETRA:APC) shares were down 4% on Tuesday afternoon after the company's annual developer conference left some investors questioning the pace of its artificial intelligence rollout, even as analysts broadly viewed the event as a step forward.
At its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple unveiled Siri AI, a rebuilt voice assistant powered by next-generation Apple Intelligence and Apple Foundation Models developed in collaboration with Google. The revamped Siri can reason across a user's device, apps and real-world context, and will receive a dedicated app with conversation history synced privately through iCloud.
Designer Brands Inc (NYSE:DBI) shares tumbled more than 21% on Tuesday after the footwear retailer delivered a first-quarter earnings beat but kept its full-year outlook unchanged, a move investors interpreted as a warning of rougher conditions ahead.
The company posted adjusted earnings per share of $0.07 for the quarter, topping expectations, even as revenue of $696.4 million came in slightly below consensus. Net sales rose 1.4% year over year.
United Natural Foods (NASDAQ:UNFI) shares fell more than 12% after the grocery wholesaler reported quarterly net sales that came in below analyst expectations, even as earnings per share narrowly beat estimates.
Net sales came in at $7.72 billion, short of the $7.8 billion analysts had forecast.
J M Smucker Co (NYSE:SJM) reported stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter results on Tuesday, with its coffee business leading a broad earnings beat that sent shares up roughly 12%.
The Orrville, Ohio-based packaged food company posted net sales of $2.27 billion for the three months ended April 30, 2026, a 6% increase from the same period a year earlier and ahead of analyst estimates.
