Vaalco Energy restarts production at Baobab in Côte d'Ivoire

Vaalco Energy Inc (NYSE:EGY, LSE:EGY) has restarted production at its Baobab field offshore Côte d'Ivoire after completing a refurbishment of the field's floating production vessel.

The field, on the CI-40 block, is back online following work on the Baobab Ivoirien floating production, storage and offloading vessel, the Houston-based oil and gas producer said. The FPSO refurbishment had taken the field's output offline, and its return restores a producing asset to Vaalco's portfolio.

Bringing Baobab back into production resumes a stream of output and the revenue tied to it. FPSO refurbishments require shutting in a field while work is carried out on the vessel that processes and stores crude, so completing the program and restarting the field removes an overhang on the company's West African operations.

Vaalco did not provide the production rate at restart or detail the scope of the refurbishment in the announcement. The Baobab field sits within the company's operations offshore Côte d'Ivoire, part of a West African asset base.

Vaalco Energy is an independent oil and gas company with production and development operations in West Africa.
