Janus Electric advances North American rollout with expanded orders, incentives and infrastructure progress

Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS) has reported further progress in its North American expansion strategy, with additional conversion kit orders, infrastructure development milestones and battery deployment plans supporting its push into the US and Canadian heavy transport markets.

Activity across customer deployments, charging infrastructure and commercial development continues to align with its three-horizon growth strategy as it builds its presence in key freight and logistics hubs.

Ability Tri-Modal doubles order commitment

Janus Electric's US customer Ability Tri-Modal has expanded its commitment to the company's platform, ordering two additional conversion kits and taking its total order to four.

Ability Tri-Modal operates a multi-modal freight logistics business in the Port of Los Angeles region and has increased its order following the initial deployment of Janus technology.

Construction is also underway on a dedicated Janus Charge & Change Station that will support the Ability Tri-Modal fleet and future electrification activities at the customer's facility. The station is expected to provide a foundation for broader deployment of Janus-converted vehicles throughout the Port of Los Angeles logistics network.

Government incentives strengthen economic case

Janus has also secured confirmation of government funding support for the four Ability Tri-Modal conversion kits, significantly reducing upfront conversion costs.

The incentives comprise Heavy-Duty Incentive Program (HVIP) vouchers worth US$112,000 per truck and a further US$54,000 per truck available through the Port of Los Angeles "Plus" grant program.

Combined incentives of around US$166,000 per truck effectively reduce the net conversion cost to near zero for eligible Californian fleet operators, strengthening the commercial appeal of the Janus platform as operators work to comply with California's zero-emission vehicle requirements.

Market development and infrastructure network expand

To support growing activity in North America, Janus has appointed a senior US-based commercial lead tasked with customer engagement, dealer coordination and business development across the region.

The company said the appointment will bolster its ability to pursue customer, dealer and infrastructure opportunities in California and other markets where emissions regulations are driving demand for fleet electrification solutions.

Separately, Janus reported ongoing progress with infrastructure partner Greenlane on the rollout of charging infrastructure at the Colton logistics precinct in California.

The inland freight hub serves the greater Los Angeles region and is expected to become an important part of Janus's planned network of Charge & Change Stations supporting port freight electrification.

Battery deployment plans advance in Canada

Janus's battery technology partner Electrovaya Inc (TSX:ELVA) has agreed a deployment schedule for the JBS650 battery platform.

In-truck testing is expected to begin at Electrovaya's production facility in Ontario during July 2026, with deployment into California anticipated during July and August.

The testing program represents a key step in validating the battery platform ahead of broader commercial deployment within North American fleet operations.

Canadian fleet opportunity remains on track

The company also confirmed that discussions relating to a previously announced Canadian fleet opportunity continue to progress.

Janus said it remains optimistic about securing a commercial order and will update the market once an agreement has been finalised.

What's next?

Near-term catalysts for Janus Electric include completion of the Ability Tri-Modal charging station, commencement of Electrovaya battery testing in Ontario, deployment of battery systems into California and further progress on the Greenlane infrastructure partnership.

Investors will also be watching for confirmation of the company's expected senior US commercial appointment and any commercial order arising from the Canadian fleet opportunity as Janus seeks to convert its growing North American pipeline into long-term fleet deployments and recurring revenue streams.
