NewPeak Metals managing director Mark Purcell talked with Proactive about the company’s latest exploration progress at its Tansey gold project in southeast Queensland and ongoing drilling activities at the Las Opeñas gold project in Argentina.
Purcell said NewPeak Metals recently completed an approximately 1,200 metre, four-hole drilling campaign at Tansey, targeting extensions beneath historical underground workings abandoned in the 1940s. The company confirmed that mineralisation continues below the old mine, which Purcell described as an encouraging outcome for the project.
He explained that while previous exploration in the area had been limited to shallow drilling and historical government work, New Peak Metals is now aiming to better understand the broader geological potential of the district. According to Purcell, the latest drilling intersected a previously unidentified parallel structure, increasing confidence that the mineralisation may form part of a larger gold system across the region.
