Small caps are heading into Wednesday’s session against a mixed market backdrop, with softer ASX futures offset by another strong overnight lead from US technology and semiconductor stocks.
The Small Ordinaries slipped 0.18% in the previous session as weakness across energy, uranium and financials offset continued buying in copper, lithium and selected materials names.
Against that backdrop, early small-cap updates include rare earth results from Sovereign Metals, new drilling progress from Aruma Resources and a strategic reset at Novo Resources following Northern Star’s withdrawal from the Egina earn-in. You can read about the following and more throughout the day.
Sovereign confirms heavy rare earth potential at Kasiya
Sovereign Metals Ltd (ASX:SVM, OTCQX:SVMLF, AIM:SVML, FRA:SVM) says metallurgical testwork has confirmed the presence of high-value heavy rare earth elements across multiple planned production pits at its Kasiya project in Malawi.
The company said monazite concentrates recovered from the project contain elevated levels of dysprosium, terbium and yttrium, with ratios materially above those reported by several major global rare earth producers. Sovereign is now assessing the potential for monazite to become a third revenue stream at Kasiya alongside rutile and graphite production.
Aruma completes first drilling phase at Tillex
Aruma Resources Ltd (ASX:AAJ) has completed the first phase of diamond drilling at its Tillex copper-silver project in Ontario, Canada, with assays expected early next month.
The five-hole, 1,093-metre program targeted extensions to known copper mineralisation and included downhole electromagnetic surveys designed to identify additional conductors at depth. Aruma plans to begin a larger second-phase drilling campaign once initial results and updated modelling are received.
Novo regains full control of Egina project
Novo Resources Corp (TSX:NVO, OTCQX:NSRPF, ASX:NVO, FRA:1NOR) will regain full control of its Egina gold project in Western Australia after Northern Star withdrew from its earn-in agreement over the asset.
Novo said all exploration data generated during Northern Star’s work program would revert to the company, allowing its geological team to reassess and prioritise future exploration across the broader Egina gold belt near the Hemi discovery in the Pilbara.
