Greatland Resources Ltd (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF, FRA:G8G, ASX:GGP) said its Havieron gold-copper project in Western Australia has cleared both primary environmental approval hurdles, keeping the company on track for a targeted Final Investment Decision in the current June quarter.
The company said approval from the Western Australian Minister for the Environment was received on 25 May, following a recommendation from the WA Environmental Protection Authority that the project be implemented subject to specified environmental conditions.
It follows the recent Federal environmental approval from the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.
Greatland said tendering for critical-path project packages and early works at Havieron are already underway, including boxcut tunnel installation, underground development and blind bore construction preparation.
Managing director Shaun Day said Havieron would deliver high-grade gold-copper ore to the company’s Telfer processing facility. Once in steady state, the project is expected to produce around 270,000 ounces of gold a year at lowest-quartile costs, with an initial mine life of 17 years.
