Imugene Ltd (ASX:IMU, OTC:IUGNF, FRA:ILA) has appointed Dr Charmaine Gittleson and Michael Kotsanis as non-executive directors as part of a board enhancement process aimed at supporting the company’s clinical-stage cell therapy strategy.
Both appointments take effect from June 30, 2026.
The appointments come after Imugene reported encouraging early response rates in the CAR T-naïve cohort of its ongoing Phase 1b azer-cel trial ahead of a planned presentation at the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in Chicago.
Adds clinical and regulatory expertise
Gittleson brings more than 20 years’ global experience in drug development, clinical strategy and regulatory affairs.
She was previously chief medical officer at CSL Ltd, where she oversaw global clinical and medical governance across rare diseases, immunology and vaccines.
Her ASX-listed board experience includes current roles as chair of Percheron Therapeutics and non-executive director of PolyNovo, with previous board experience at Patrys.
Commercial and operational experience
Kotsanis brings 35 years’ operational leadership experience across global pharmaceutical markets, including senior roles at Hospira/Mayne Pharma and Synthon.
He returned to Australia in 2014 as CEO of Acrux Ltd, where he led pipeline development, business development, capital management, investor relations and ASX/ASIC compliance.
He is currently a non-executive director of ICE Pharma and was formerly a non-executive director of IDT Australia.
Supporting azer-cel development
Executive chairman Paul Hopper said the appointments would strengthen and balance the board as Imugene advances its azer-cel technology through the clinic.
Following the restructure, Imugene said its board would include Australian biotech leaders, medical oncologists and US biotech executives with NASDAQ experience.
