Canadian Overseas Petroleum's CFO resigns from board

Canadian Overseas Petroleum said chief financial officer Christopher McLean has resigned from the board..

Canadian Overseas Petroleum (LON:COPL, CVE:XOP) said chief financial officer Christopher McLean has resigned from the board.

As reported in April this year, he was involved in a serious road traffic accident.

"Due to health reasons following a serious road traffic accident, it is Mr McLean's desire to devote more time with his family," the firm said today in a brief statement.

"On behalf of the board of directors and employees of COPL we wish to thank Mr McLean for his contribution and dedication to the company."

He resigns as CFO effective 30 days from July 21.

Earlier this month, the company, which is focused on offshore sub-Sahara, told investors it brought in around C$7.2mln from a previously announced funding - this was around the maximum expected.

The dual listed oil junior sold shares - comprising one share and one warrant - priced at 9 cents each.

Cash proceeds are earmarked for COPL’s ongoing participation in ventures in Namibia and Tanzania, as well as general working capital purposes.

COPL in March entered a new venture with Shoreline Energy to explore opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa. The company, separately, has a stake in a project offshore Liberia alongside ExxonMobil.

COPL shares were unchanged at 3.25p each.
