Tarrina Resources Ltd (ASX:TR8, FRA:K2P) has extended the Christmas Gift gold anomaly in southern NSW to 1.16 kilometres, with new soil sampling identifying 35 gold, zinc and copper targets across the project area.
The auger soil sampling program collected 2,527 samples across a 5-kilometre north-south and 2-kilometre east-west area centred on the historic Christmas Gift mine.
The broader database now includes 4,760 soil samples, with gold, zinc and copper data used to define follow-up targets across the project.
“The integrated results from the recent auger soil sampling program at Christmas Gift confirm the existence of more gold potential within the system. Encouragingly, low-level gold results highlight that strong anomalism continues for more than four kilometres from south to north of the historic mine area, with new highly anomalous zones west of the Christmas Gift mine that have not been explored to date.
"The 12 high-priority targets, including the exciting target at McLeod’s Shaft, offer potential for new discoveries of gold mineralisation, similar to that mined historically. We now look forward to receiving the gold assay results from drilling in the coming weeks, which will provide further insight into the geology, the scale and gold prospectivity of the Christmas Gift system.”
Results extend strike potential
Recent results extended the Christmas Gift to Cullinga Extended anomaly by 240 metres to 1,163 metres.
Tarrina identified 12 high-priority gold targets, including McLeod’s Shaft, which the company describes as a potential Christmas Gift look-alike.
The strongest new soil result was 1.86 g/t gold from a surface sample about 2 kilometres northwest of the Christmas Gift mine, in an area with no recorded historic exploration or mining.
The results point to potential mineralised strike of more than 4 kilometres north and south of Christmas Gift.
In addition to gold, the program identified zinc and copper targets that could represent a separate style of mineralisation in the project area.
The targets include coherent multi-line anomalies, with several areas yet to be tested by modern drilling.
What’s next
Tarrina plans to complete gold, zinc and copper assaying of Phase 1 diamond core, continue target ranking, field-check mapped anomalies and plan follow-up drilling.
Final gold and base metal assays from diamond drilling are expected by the end of June, after which the company plans exploration drilling to test the scale of mineralisation and, subject to success, progress toward pattern RC resource drilling.
