Small Cap Watch: Aurum clears key permitting hurdle, Provaris expands CCS opportunity, Highfield advances appeal

Small caps are heading into Monday’s session with a firmer tone after easing oil prices and stronger Wall Street sentiment improved broader risk appetite at the start of the week.

The Small Ordinaries climbed 1.08% in the previous session, with investors continuing to rotate back into resources, strategic minerals and development-stage companies tied to infrastructure, energy security and long-term commodity demand.

Resources and strategic minerals names remain firmly in focus today, particularly where companies are advancing permitting, infrastructure or commercialisation milestones against an increasingly complex global macro backdrop.

Aurum secures environmental approvals for Boundiali

Aurum Resources Ltd (ASX:AUE) has received three environmental approval certificates for its 3.22Moz Boundiali gold project in Côte d’Ivoire, marking a major step towards securing mining licences for the development.

The approvals cover all three mining licence applications across the project area and follow a 12-month environmental and social assessment process. Aurum said the milestone materially de-risks the project as it advances prefeasibility and definitive feasibility studies, with 16 company-owned drill rigs continuing resource growth work on site.

Provaris broadens carbon capture commercialisation pathway

Provaris Energy Ltd (ASX:PV1, OTC:GBBLF, FRA:WS90) says its proprietary liquified CO2 tank technology has achieved a key concept selection milestone under its joint development agreement with Yinson Production.

Importantly, the tank design is now being evaluated not only for floating storage and injection units, but also for liquified CO2 carriers and floating terminal applications, significantly broadening its potential commercial use across the carbon capture and storage supply chain.

Highfield appeal admitted by Spanish Supreme Court

Highfield Resources Ltd (ASX:HFR) reported that the Spanish Supreme Court has formally admitted appeals relating to the Goyo mining concession tied to its Muga potash project.

The case centres on whether a unified concession should have been granted across multiple regions rather than separate approvals. Highfield noted the earlier ruling did not challenge the project’s technical or environmental foundations, with existing permits and approvals remaining in force while the judicial review process proceeds.
