Catapult Sports CEO and managing director Will Lopes talked with Proactive about the company’s latest financial results, which saw operating profit rise 67% year-on-year alongside strong revenue growth and expanding margins.
Lopes explained how Catapult Sports has evolved from pioneering wearable athlete tracking technology into a global sports analytics and performance platform used across more than 40 sports in over 100 countries. The company’s technology now spans athlete monitoring, tactical video analysis, gym performance systems, Formula 1 race analytics and global football recruitment solutions.
Discussing the latest numbers, Lopes highlighted annualised contract value growth of 28% to nearly US$134 million and revenue growth that pushed the company beyond A$200 million in annual revenue for the first time. He said the company’s disciplined operating model has been central to its profitability gains.
Lopes also discussed Catapult’s growing role in Formula 1, where the company’s software helps teams analyse telemetry, race strategy and predictive race outcomes in real time. He said the company’s competitive advantage lies in the scale of athlete data collected over the past 15 years and its ability to apply AI-driven insights to that dataset.
