Provaris Energy managing director and CEO Martin Carolan talked with Proactive about the company’s latest cooperation agreement with K Line and Norwegian Hydrogen, marking another step forward in establishing a commercially viable hydrogen supply chain between Norway and Germany.
Carolan explained how the agreement brings together the three key elements of the supply chain: hydrogen production, shipping and offtake. Norwegian Hydrogen will develop and operate the hydrogen production facilities, while K Line will finance and operate the hydrogen carriers developed using Provaris Energy’s proprietary ship design technology.
He said the partnership strengthens the company’s pathway toward future investment decisions and long-term commercial operations in Europe’s growing hydrogen market, particularly Germany, where demand is expected to accelerate later this decade.
Carolan noted that the targeted timeline for operations remains aligned with the broader development of Europe’s hydrogen market, with investment decisions expected around late 2027 or early 2028 and operations potentially commencing in 2030 or 2031.
