OKYO Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ:OKYO) announced that it has expanded its Scientific Advisory Board with the appointment of Dr. Marta Sacchetti as the company continues advancing its clinical programs in neuropathic corneal pain and inflammatory eye diseases.
The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company is developing investigational therapies targeting neuropathic corneal pain and other inflammatory ocular conditions.
The company said the addition of Dr. Sacchetti strengthens its global scientific network with a focus on European ophthalmology expertise.
Sacchetti is an associate professor of ophthalmology at Link University in Rome. According to the company, she brings extensive clinical, research, and industry experience in cornea and ocular surface diseases, including prior leadership as Global Head of Clinical Development, Ophthalmology & Neurotrophins at Dompé Farmaceutici.
Her research has focused on degenerative, allergic, and neuroimmune diseases of the cornea and ocular surface. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts, and book chapters in ophthalmology.
OKYO noted that Sacchetti’s experience in targeted nerve regeneration, pain signaling modulation, and advanced diagnostics will support its development efforts in neuro-inflammatory eye disease.

Separately, the company highlighted its recent visibility within the ophthalmology community, noting that its introduction at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting helped drive engagement at both Eyecelerator and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology conference.
OKYO’s lead investigational asset, urcosimod, is the first therapy to receive an Investigational New Drug application specifically for neuropathic corneal pain and has also been granted Fast Track designation by the US Food and Drug Administration.
