Ocean Power Technologies Inc (NYSE-A:OPTT) has expanded its global footprint, scaling US PowerBuoy deployments to five systems and adding autonomous surface vehicles overseas.
In the US, three of the new PowerBuoy systems are supporting Department of Homeland Security activities, with a fourth backing US Navy research and a fifth deployed with a US-based research institution.
The company said the expansion marks a shift from initial research use toward broader multi-agency adoption.
Internationally, OPT has deployed three WAM-V autonomous surface vehicles and one PowerBuoy in the UAE, with additional WAM-V deployments supporting customer activity in Taiwan and other regions.
OPT is also showcasing its WAM-V platform at Special Operations Forces Week in Tampa, Florida, the major annual gathering for the global special operations community, targeting engagement with defense and advanced marine operations stakeholders.
