BCAL Diagnostics Ltd (ASX:BDX) has established national referral pathways for its early cancer detection test portfolio, with clinical referral forms now available through Best Practice and Medical Director, platforms used by about 97% of Australian GPs.
The integration gives BCAL a direct route into primary care workflows, where patient risk assessment and referral decisions are commonly made, supporting broader access to its blood-based cancer detection tests.
GP access supports commercial scale-up
The referral infrastructure adds to BCAL’s laboratory and distribution arrangements with Sonic Healthcare and Helius Pathology networks, strengthening national test access and fulfilment.
BCAL has also launched EarlyDetection.com.au, a telehealth service developed with Medmate, providing another medically supported pathway for eligible patients.
The company’s early detection portfolio includes BREASTESTplus™, Avantect® Pancreatic and Avantect® Ovarian, with its Avantect® multi-cancer early detection test expected to launch in Australia in June 2026.
BCAL is also establishing a Sydney CBD clinic for high-risk patients requiring medical consultation, risk assessment and access to blood-based testing.
The company has registered the EarlyDetection platform in New Zealand, the UK, US, India and other international markets, supporting future expansion beyond Australia.
BCAL appoints CEO to drive commercial rollout
The expansion follows the appointment of Anne-Louise “Annie” Arnett as chief executive officer, effective June 1, 2026, as the company moves to accelerate commercialisation of its early cancer detection portfolio.
Arnett has more than 25 years’ senior commercial and operational experience in medical technology, including diagnostics, capital equipment and regulated product portfolios.
Her appointment comes as BCAL prepares to launch multiple new products and expand its reach beyond Australia.
The company said Arnett had successfully introduced diagnostic and medical technology products into Australian and international markets, experience expected to support BCAL’s next phase of growth.
BCAL has also appointed Shane Ryan as director of clinical affairs, breast cancer, to ensure continuity for the company’s core product during the leadership transition.
Executive chair Jayne Shaw will move to non-executive chair from 1 July 2026, reflecting the company’s transition into a broader commercial growth phase.
