Powerhouse Energy Group PLC (AIM:PHE, FRA:BT81), the company developing technology to convert non-recyclable waste into low-carbon energy, has won the Energy From Waste Innovation Achievement Of The Year at the letsrecycle.com Awards for Excellence 2026.
The award was presented at a ceremony at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London on 13 May.
The company's proprietary DMG system uses a rotating kiln operating at around 1,000°C in a low-oxygen environment to transform non-recyclable plastics and other waste into clean syngas or high-purity hydrogen, capturing excess carbon as a solid residue rather than releasing it into the atmosphere.
Available in modular configurations processing between 2.5 and 40 tonnes per day, Powerhouse says the technology delivers energy at costs comparable to conventional fossil fuels without reliance on grants or public subsidy.
A commercial-scale pilot plant processing 2.5 tonnes per day was installed at the company's headquarters in Bridgend, South Wales in March 2025 and has generated commercial interest from UK and international markets.
Two flagship 40-tonne-per-day projects are planned in Ballymena, Northern Ireland and Perth, Western Australia.
Paul Emmitt, chief executive, said the award was "a truly proud moment for everyone at Powerhouse, and a powerful endorsement of what we have built".
