Small Cap Watch: Small Caps mixed as Elixir, Ora Banda, Lumos and Scorpion deliver key updates

The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX: XSO) slipped 9.20 points, or 0.27%, to 3,457.00 on Friday, extending its five-day decline to 8.50 points or 0.25%, as investors continued to weigh mixed sentiment across the small-cap resources, energy and healthcare sectors.

Despite the softer broader market backdrop, several ASX-listed small caps reported operational milestones, strategic growth plans and commercial progress across the energy, mining and diagnostics sectors.

Elixir Energy confirms key Diona-1 exploration objectives

Elixir Energy Ltd (ASX:EXR, OTC:ELXPF) has provided an interim operational update on flow testing at the Diona-1 exploration well in Queensland’s Surat-Bowen Basin, where the company operates the ATP2077 Diona sub-block joint venture with Xstate Resources holding the remaining 51%.

The company said the Diona-1 vertical exploration well successfully achieved its primary objectives, confirming a recoverable gas and condensate resource, an overpressured reservoir system and a low impurity hydrocarbon composition.

The early results are considered encouraging for the broader prospectivity of the permit area, with testing operations continuing as the joint venture works to better understand reservoir performance and commercial potential.

Ora Banda outlines ‘Drive to 300’ growth ambition

Ora Banda Mining Ltd (ASX:OBM, OTC:ESGFF, FRA:M6N) has unveiled its “Drive to 300” aspiration, outlining the company’s next phase of growth as it seeks to expand production and strengthen its position as a Western Australian gold producer.

The company emphasised that the initiative is aspirational in nature and does not constitute a production target or forecast under ASX reporting rules, noting it does not yet have reasonable grounds to conclude the target can be achieved.

Ora Banda said the strategy reflects its long-term vision for operational expansion as it continues advancing its portfolio of gold assets and development opportunities.

Lumos Diagnostics advances FebriDx US rollout

Lumos Diagnostics Holdings Ltd (ASX:LDX, OTC:LDXHF) has updated the market on the ongoing commercial rollout of its FebriDx® rapid diagnostic test in the United States following the recent FDA CLIA waiver clearance secured in March 2026.

The company said it is currently focused on establishing the commercial foundations needed for broader adoption ahead of the 2027/28 US flu season.

While respiratory testing demand typically slows during the northern hemisphere spring and summer months, Lumos said the current period is critical for building market awareness, onboarding customers, progressing pilot evaluations and validating reimbursement pathways in CLIA-waived healthcare settings.

FebriDx is designed as a rapid point-of-care test to help differentiate between bacterial and viral respiratory infections.

Scorpion Minerals secures binding deal over Pharos tenements

Scorpion Minerals Limited (ASX:SCN) has entered into a binding option agreement with Andel Resources Pty Ltd covering the Old Prospect tenements within the company’s Pharos Gold Project in Western Australia’s Murchison region.

The company described Andel as a well-funded group with existing mining, transport and processing infrastructure, highlighting its links to Gylden Resources Pty Ltd, owner of the Kirkalocka Processing Plant and surrounding gold project.

The Kirkalocka infrastructure sits about 70 kilometres south of Mount Magnet and around 200 kilometres from the Pharos tenements.

Scorpion noted that Andel and Gylden are owned by an affiliate of global investment firm Värde Partners, providing the company with access to a financially strong counterparty as it advances development opportunities across the Pharos project area.
