Serval Resources PLC (LSE:SRVL) told investors that its first geophysical programmes in Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Belt have identified target zones and structures that will guide follow-up exploration across licences PL082 and PL231.
The AIM-listed copper and future metals explorer used ground magnetics, time domain electromagnetic surveys and Audio-Magnetotellurics across the two licences, completing 67.5 line-kilometres of ground magnetics and TDEM work and 299 AMT stations.
In the PL082 area, which is adjacent and on strike with Cobre Limited’s Ngami copper-silver project, the data showed that underlying Kalahari Copper Belt geology could be observed through Karoo volcanic sequences.
TDEM results also indicated more conductive and resistive units that may point to the target Ngwako Pan and D’Kar formation contact. At PL231, near the Namibian border, the company identified an interpreted anticlinal structure in the northern part of the licence, which it said will be a focus for follow-up work.
Serval also said depth to bedrock appears to increase from around 20 metres in the north to around 90 metres in the south, helping it assess where soil geochemistry may be effective.
Chief executive Robin Birchall said the initial work had provided “valuable information about the exploration methodology required for exploration success in the KCB” and possible targets on the two licences.
Serval noted that funds raised as part of its recent AIM listing will be used to advance exploration programmes and generate drill-ready targets.
