Reconnaissance Energy Africa expects Kavango West 1X production testing to begin by month-end

Reconnaissance Energy Africa Ltd (TSX-V:RECO, OTCQX:RECAF, FRA:0XD) announced that operations in Namibia are advancing toward the start of production testing at the Kavango West 1X well, with testing expected to begin before the end of May.

The company, along with partners NAMCOR and BW Energy, said equipment and services for the downhole testing program have been arriving on site from both Namibian and international suppliers.

ReconAfrica said the production test will evaluate six optimized zones across 420 metres of hydrocarbon-bearing intervals at the Kavango West 1X, or KW1X, well.

The company will be working with by oil field service companies SLB and Halliburton.

Before testing begins, the company said it will complete a cement bond log to confirm casing and cement integrity, which it described as standard procedure prior to production testing. ReconAfrica also noted that a third-party service provider is securing a final transport and storage permit required to begin the downhole testing program.

The company said production testing in a single zone could take up to 10 days, with the full testing program expected to last up to 60 days. ReconAfrica said it anticipates releasing production test results around mid-to-late July.

In addition to testing activities, the company said it is continuing preparations for appraisal drilling on the Kavango discovery, with site selection and permitting work underway.
