IP Group portfolio company Enterprise Therapeutics reveals positive cystic fibrosis trial results

IP Group PLC (LSE:IPO) told investors that its portfolio company Enterprise Therapeutics has reported positive Phase 2 trial results for ETD001, its lead candidate for cystic fibrosis, after the inhaled treatment achieved its primary efficacy outcome.

The trial evaluated ETD001’s efficacy, safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics in the 10% of people with cystic fibrosis described as having the highest unmet medical need.

Data showed a clinically meaningful improvement in lung function over a 28-day period compared with placebo, while ETD001 was described as overall well-tolerated, with adverse events consistent with those expected in this patient population.

Enterprise now plans to advance ETD001 into longer-duration Phase 2b studies, including in combination with CFTR modulator therapies, which are effective for some but not all people with cystic fibrosis.

Chief executive Greg Smith said the milestone was “a strong validation” of Enterprise’s differentiated approach, adding that it highlights the potential of ETD001 in a population with significant unmet need.
