Thor Explorations Ltd (TSX-V:THX, AIM:THX, OTC:THXPF, FRA:T2X) has added high-calibre mining experience to its board as it prepares for its next phase of growth, appointing former Harmony Gold chief executive Bernard Swanepoel as a director.
Swanepoel has spent 25 years of his 40-year mining career in senior or executive management roles. He led Harmony Gold from 1995 to 2007, a period in which Thor said the company became one of the world’s largest gold producers.
He has also served on the boards of Sanlam and African Rainbow Minerals, chairs Manganese Metal Company and sits on the boards of Impala Platinum, Zimplats and African Exploration Mining and Finance Corporation.
Chief executive Segun Lawson said Swanepoel’s experience would strengthen the board “at this critical period” as Thor prepares to build its second mine, move to underground mining at Segilola and develop into a mid-tier gold producer.
