Nova Minerals Ltd CEO Christopher Gerteisen talked with Proactive about the company’s successful 2026 winter freight mobilisation campaign at the Estelle Project in Alaska, where Nova Minerals delivered all major equipment and supplies needed for planned antimony mining, extraction and processing activities under its US Department of War award.
Gerteisen explained that the company is advancing rapidly toward domestic US antimony production, supported by a US Department of War grant valued at US$43 million. The grant is focused on restoring military-grade antimony trisulfide production capability within the United States, a strategic objective given antimony’s importance in munitions, semiconductors, batteries, solar panels and flame-retardant applications.
The company completed its largest winter logistics operation to date, transporting more than 1.5 million pounds of freight across ice roads to the Estelle Project site. Heavy equipment delivered included large-scale mining and processing machinery weighing up to 100,000 pounds. Gerteisen noted that ideal winter conditions enabled Nova Minerals to safely construct ice bridges up to six feet thick, allowing successful transport operations throughout the season.
The discussion also highlighted Nova Minerals’ broader plans to expand beyond phase one antimony production into larger-scale refining operations capable of supplying additional refined antimony products to the wider US industrial base.
