Greatland Resources Ltd (AIM:GGP, OTC:GRLGF, FRA:G8G, ASX:GGP) said drilling has pointed to a potentially significant southward extension of its West Dome Underground deposit at Telfer after a step-out hole returned one of the project’s best intercepts to date.
The Pinnacles hole, drilled around 1.2 kilometres south of the current West Dome Underground resource, intersected 58.7 metres at 6.5 grams per tonne gold and 0.1% copper from 1,754 metres, including 37 metres at 9.98 g/t gold and 0.14% copper.
Greatland said the result indicates an extension of the same geological structure and stratigraphy that hosts the existing resource, with mineralisation open both back towards West Dome Underground and further south into untested ground.
A further intercept of 34.1 metres at 1.1 g/t gold was also reported below the main zone.
The intercept sits about 1.5 kilometres from Telfer’s existing underground crusher and hoist infrastructure, broadly matching the distance from the current resource.
Greatland said follow-up work will include wedge holes from the discovery drill hole and planning for drilling across the 1.2-kilometre gap between Pinnacles and West Dome Underground.
"It is a credit to our Exploration team to have first interpreted the potential extension of the West Dome Underground at Pinnacles, a significant distance from our current area of focus, and then to successfully plan and execute this drill hole from surface to its target at depth," said managing director Shaun Day.
He added: "While the result is a single drill hole, it demonstrates the potential extension of West Dome Underground mineralisation to the south of our current resource.
"This new intercept is in similar proximity to our existing underground crusher and hoist infrastructure as the current West Dome Underground resource, further adding to its prospectivity."
