Elixir Energy Ltd (ASX:EXR, OTC:ELXPF) has begun flow-back and clean-up operations at the Diona-1 exploration well in Queensland’s Surat-Bowen Basin after successfully completing stimulation and well completion activities.
The Diona-1 well, in which Elixir holds a 49% operating interest alongside joint venture partner Xstate Resources Limited (ASX:XST, FRA:XW7), has been stimulated across identified Permian net gas pay zones and completed with 2-3/8-inch tubing and sliding sleeve completions.
Flowing gas and condensate
The well was opened on the afternoon of May 10, 2026, and immediately started free-flowing completion and stimulation fluids back to surface. According to the company, Diona-1 is already flowing gas and condensate in addition to stimulation and completion fluids.
At present, the well is producing at a flowing tubing head pressure (FTHP) of 735 psig through a 20/64-inch choke, with the production stream currently bypassing measurement equipment while the well undergoes its initial clean-up phase.
Elixir said fluid production is expected to decline as flow-back continues and gas and condensate increasingly dominate the production stream. Once that occurs, the production stream will be redirected through measurement equipment to begin the multi-rate testing and pressure monitoring phase of the program.
The workover rig and associated equipment are now being demobilised from site, while the dedicated well testing package has been installed ahead of the next stage of operations.
Diona-1 is located within ATP2077 in the Surat-Bowen Basin, where Elixir and Xstate are targeting conventional gas and condensate potential from Permian-age reservoirs.
