Bango PLC (AIM:BGO, OTCQX:BGOPF) CEO Paul Larbey talked with Proactive about the company’s new partnership with LinkedIn and how the agreement strengthens Bango’s growing subscription bundling ecosystem. Larbey explained that LinkedIn is “one of those really recognized, most trusted brands” and said adding the platform expands Bango’s reach into professional productivity and career development services.
During the interview, Larbey discussed how the Bango Digital Vending Machine enables subscription providers to connect with a global network of distribution partners through a single integration. He said the platform allows companies such as LinkedIn to rapidly scale access to new customers through telcos, retailers and banks without requiring multiple technical integrations.
The discussion also focused on changing consumer behaviour in the subscription economy. Larbey noted that while consumers continue to spend heavily on subscriptions, they increasingly want simplicity, flexibility and value. He explained that bundled subscription offers are becoming more personalised and can combine entertainment, productivity, AI tools, retail services and food delivery into tailored packages for different customer groups.
Larbey highlighted AI tools as a major growth area for Bango and said the LinkedIn partnership reflects the continued expansion of subscription bundling into new sectors beyond entertainment and streaming.
He told Proactive: “Ultimately, we're here to be the place where people subscribe.”
Proactive: Paul, congratulations on that partnership with LinkedIn. Why is it important for Bango?
Paul Larbey: LinkedIn is one of those really recognised, most trusted brands that has a really strong subscription product. It's nice to bring the company onto the platform because it fundamentally expands the range of services we have and the ecosystem connected to the platform into professional productivity and career development. It highlights the importance of the Bango platform in an ecosystem where subscriptions are increasingly bundled.
Proactive: What does LinkedIn gain from joining the digital vending machine?
Paul Larbey: Fundamentally, LinkedIn gains access to a global network of distribution partners. Initially that will start with telcos, but it will move beyond that into banks and retailers. The ability to connect once and access many partners allows rapid scaling without building individual integrations. It creates the potential to grow customers and access markets that may not have been reachable before.
Proactive: Why is subscription bundling becoming so important right now?
Paul Larbey: It comes down to consumer behaviour and how people interact with subscriptions. More services are becoming subscription-based. Our recent Subscription Signals report highlighted that consumers still love subscriptions and are spending as much as ever. What has changed is how consumers want to access and manage them. People want simplicity, value and flexibility, and bundled offers provide that.
Proactive: How does this partnership reflect the evolution of the Bango business?
Paul Larbey: It demonstrates the overall growth of the subscription economy. Bundling has long been used by entertainment, music and gaming services to reach more customers. Adding more subscription types expands the ecosystem further. Bango has already expanded into fitness, retail and professional services. AI tools are also a major growth area, and LinkedIn naturally extends that progression.
Proactive: What differentiates the Bango digital vending machine?
Paul Larbey: Providing subscriptions to customers requires simplicity, flexibility and personalisation. Bundles are becoming more sophisticated, combining multiple types of services together. For example, a student bundle could include LinkedIn, productivity tools, AI services and entertainment. A family bundle might combine entertainment, retail and food delivery. Managing that complexity is exactly what the digital vending machine solves, enabling fast and simple delivery of personalised bundles.
Proactive: What excites you most personally about this announcement?
Paul Larbey: The subscription market is becoming more dynamic, with more personalised and flexible bundles. Partnerships with LinkedIn show how the ecosystem is expanding and strengthen the role of the digital vending machine at the centre of that bundling economy. Ultimately, we're here to be the place where people subscribe.
Proactive: Paul, congratulations again on this latest partnership. I hope you'll continue to keep us updated with your progress.
Paul Larbey: Absolutely. Great to talk to you again.
