Coiled Therapeutics appoints leading oncologist to board

Coiled Therapeutics (AIM:COIL), the clinical-stage oncology company, has appointed Dr Andrew Dean as a non-executive director with immediate effect.

Dean is head of oncology at St John of God Subiaco Hospital in Western Australia, where he oversees the busiest clinical trials unit of any private hospital in the region, with active studies spanning pancreatic, gastrointestinal and gynaecological cancers.

He also consults for GenesisCare, one of the world's largest integrated cancer care networks, and serves on the board of Valo Therapeutics, a clinical-stage immunotherapy company.

His research background includes molecular profiling of solid tumours and novel therapies for ovarian cancer, areas the company said fit directly with its precision oncology focus and lead drug candidate, AO-252.

Chairman Sotirios Stergiopoulos said Dean's clinical and drug development expertise would be valuable as the company advances AO-252 through late-stage studies.

Dean said recent clinical data for AO-252 had demonstrated significant benefit and durable responses in heavily pre-treated patients, and that he was impressed by the science underpinning the company's TACC3 inhibitor, a protein target implicated in tumour growth.

Separately, Coiled Therapeutics announced that its chief technology officer, Chaemin Lim, will present at the Endless Frontier Labs Frontiers 2026 event in New York today.

Endless Frontier Labs, based at NYU Stern School of Business, is a non-profit accelerator for science and deep-tech companies, with Coiled among the 5% of applicants to complete its nine-month programme.

Lim will present in the oncology diagnostics and targeted therapies segment of the event's life sciences track.

Chief executive Sridhar Vempati said the appearance provided an opportunity to connect with investors who recognised the potential of AO-252, which recently recorded an 80% clinical benefit rate in its twice-daily dosing cohort.
