Carnavale Resources Ltd (ASX:CAV, FRA:YBB) has appointed long-time chief executive Humphrey Hale as managing director, a move that keeps leadership continuity in place as the company advances its Kookynie Gold Project towards production.
The appointment takes effect immediately and comes at a pivotal stage for Carnavale, with a bankable feasibility study (BFS) under way and targeted for completion in early Q3 2026.
Leadership continuity as development phase ramps up
Hale is a familiar figure to investors, having led the company’s executive team as CEO for several years. His elevation to managing director formalises his role in steering Carnavale through its next phase of growth, with a clear focus on transitioning Kookynie from exploration success to development.
Since joining Carnavale in July 2020, Hale has overseen a period of significant progress, including the acquisition of key tenure in the Kookynie region and the discovery of high-grade gold deposits at the Swiftsure and Tiptoe prospects. Those discoveries have underpinned the current BFS, which is aimed at defining a pathway to production.
The company has increasingly shifted from pure exploration towards development in recent months, supported by strong drilling results and ongoing technical studies. Previous updates have highlighted high-grade intercepts and steady progress across the Kookynie project, reinforcing its potential as a near-term gold development opportunity.
Non-executive chairman Andy Beckwith said Hale’s appointment reflects both his track record with the company and the demands of the next stage of its evolution.
“I am very pleased that Humphrey has agreed to take on the managing director role,” Beckwith said. “Humphrey’s passion for operational excellence and strategic thinking will continue to bring benefit to the entire leadership team and will assist in ensuring that the company is well placed to capitalise on current developments and future market opportunities as they present over the next few years.”
Kookynie study advances alongside growth ambitions
Hale said the transition comes with strong backing from the board and major shareholders, and aligns with Carnavale’s broader development strategy.
“The company is well placed to develop its assets and bring the Kookynie Gold Project into production,” he said. “The company remains on the hunt for additional opportunities… to develop and add value for shareholders.”
Hale’s prior experience includes roles as exploration manager at AngloGold Ashanti’s Sunrise Dam gold mine, managing director of Wolf Minerals and technical director at Infinity Lithium. That background spans the full project lifecycle, from early-stage exploration through to construction and development.
Under the terms of his employment agreement, Hale will receive fixed remuneration of $280,000 per annum plus superannuation, with standard notice provisions applying.
With the BFS nearing completion and development planning accelerating, Carnavale’s leadership reshuffle signals a continued push to convert the Kookynie resource base into a producing gold asset, while maintaining momentum on exploration and broader growth initiatives.
