Iofina CEO: we're working on how to build new iodine plants at a faster rate - ICYMI

Iofina PLC (AIM:IOF, OTC:IOFNF) has reported a fresh set of record financial results, underpinned by higher iodine prices and expanding production capacity.

Chief executive Dr Tom Becker outlined the company’s progress and near-term growth plans in a recent interview with Proactive.

Below is the full Q&A, along with the video discussion, covering operations, expansion in the Permian Basin, and longer-term output targets.

Proactive: All right welcome back inside our Proactive newsroom. And joining me now is Thomas Becker. He's the CEO of Iofina. And Tom, it's great to see you again. How are you?

Dr Tom Becker: Good. How are you?

Proactive: Great to have you along. You're out with your 2025 financial numbers, records for the company once again. Pretty exciting, I would think, when you look at the numbers, Tom.

Dr Tom Becker: Yeah, we're very excited about the announcement today. It's been the hard work of our employees executing the business plan. The key things for us are record revenue of over $66 million, up over 22% year on year. Adjusted EBITDA was $11.8 million, up over 56% from the prior year. We produced 743 metric tons last year, up over 17%. All those are great numbers for us as we continue to grow the business.

Proactive: You mentioned what led to this and the work that you do. Pricing was included, but also some other things that pushed the company forward.

Dr Tom Becker: We did benefit from iodine pricing, which averaged just over $74 a kilo last year. That helped.

But for us it's really focusing on operations. We opened our IO#11 plant in the second half of last year, which added capacity. It’s about how we source raw materials, execute iodine production, and how our chemicals division produces materials. All those factors contributed to a great 2025 and a strong start to 2026.

Proactive: You also updated your 2026 guidance. A lot of that has to do with scaling up operations, right?

Dr Tom Becker: Yes. We have eight iodine plants operating in Oklahoma. We expect to produce about 385 metric tons of crystalline iodine in the first half of the year.

We’re building a new plant in the Permian Basin, expected online in the third quarter. We continue to add capacity while maintaining a strong safety focus.

Proactive: You’ve mentioned employees a few times. It must be gratifying to see everyone aligned and delivering results.

Dr Tom Becker: We have a commitment from our employees to do the right thing with a safety-first culture. At the same time, we’re focused on growth.

Our business development team is working on opportunities to build new iodine plants at a faster rate. The road to 1,000 metric tons is right here once the Permian plant comes online, and the road to 2,000 metric tons is just a number of years out.

Proactive: Great update, Tom. Thanks very much.
