Michelmersh Brick Holdings (LON:MBH) revealed it will have a joint chief executive in the new year as it announced a near doubling of pre-tax profit in its latest half year.
"The results for the first half of 2015 demonstrate that Michelmersh continues to make progress in the market," said Eric Gadsden, chairman.
"The sound financial base and strong management structures that have been developed over the past few years are now set to deliver continued and meaningful profits, cash flow and allow a continuing dividend stream."
In the six months to June 30, pre -tax profit was £2.5mln compared to £1.27mln in the same period in 2014. That was on revenues of £15.3mln (2014: £13.5mln).
The number of bricks sold in the first half rose to 36mln from 34mln last year, while production increased from 34 to 35 million - both a result of the increased capacity at Freshfield Lane along with strong production performances from all other sites.
Average selling prices of the bricks achieved in the first half of the year were £422 per thousand, compared to £387 per thousand in the same period last year, the firm said.
Separately, the group said that from Jan 1 next year, Frank Hanna, currently commercial director and Peter Sharp, operations director, will jointly share the role of chief executive.
Martin Warner, currently chief executive, remains an executive director but will move to deputy chairman.
Gadsden added that both men have an "excellent understanding of the business and, as a team, will provide a diverse range of key skills for the successful future of Michelmersh".
Shares eased 8.02% to 86p each.
