Horizon Gold Ltd managing director Scott Williamson talked with Proactive about the company’s 100%-owned Gum Creek Gold Project in Western Australia, following high-grade gold intercepts from diamond drilling at the Omega and Kingfisher prospects.
Williamson said Gum Creek is a development story rather than an early-stage exploration play, with the project already having produced around 1 million ounces historically and now showing strong potential at today’s gold prices. He explained that Horizon Gold is working toward an open-pit, free-milling operation targeting initial production of around 100,000 ounces per annum, while underground opportunities at Omega and Kingfisher could add higher-grade material over time.
Williamson also discussed the company’s recent $30 million raise, with around $20 million allocated to exploration. He said two diamond rigs are drilling at Kingfisher, Swan Swift and Omega, while an RC rig will test open-pit extensions. Horizon Gold is also progressing permitting and final study work ahead of a potential final investment decision in the new year, while considering early toll-treatment options.
